Will your school be next?
We are currently looking for a medical school to host our 51st annual regional conference in 2024. Our constitution provides for two conference co-chairs to join the LMSA – Northeast executive board to direct (with the support of the board) conference planning on behalf of their institution.
Conference co-chair details:
Here are some questions to consider as you communicate with school administrators prior to submitting a bid:
The above set of questions is not a binding checklist nor is it comprehensive. If you have additional questions, please contact our current conference co-chairs.
Conference co-chair details:
- One year position
- Must be from the institution in which conference is being held
- Coordinate conference logistics with the support of the board:
- Conference facilities
- Conference events
- Recruitment of conference speakers and exhibitors
- Advertisement, networking event, etc.
Here are some questions to consider as you communicate with school administrators prior to submitting a bid:
- Does my school have a room with capacity for ~300 attendees to sit for speakers? Are there other large spaces that can be used for workshops, food, and the exhibitor fair?
- Is my school willing to donate $5,000 to support LMSA and the conference planning process. This must be written in a statement of support by administration before we can confirm their bid for conference.
- Do I have the approval of school administrators to host this event (note that approval can be gained after preliminary approval from the board)?
- Am I able to recruit enough volunteers for conference subcommittees (this year there were > 40 full-time volunteers)?
- Do I (or a classmate) feel prepared to commit the time needed as conference co-chair (note that you may submit a bid without offering yourself as the conference co-chair)?
The above set of questions is not a binding checklist nor is it comprehensive. If you have additional questions, please contact our current conference co-chairs.
