Board Responsibilities

Elections will take place at Spring HOD yearly!

​Co-Director
​(2 people in position)

• Co-Director during the second year
• Supervise all LMSA-NE affairs, including but not limited to:
  • Annual Regional Conference
  • Executive Meetings (regional & national)
  • LMSA retreat
  • House of Delegates Meetings
• Attend National Board of Directors Meetings 
• Ensure communication with faculty advisors
• Work with LMSA National President
• Serve as a representative of LMSA-NE
• Continue working towards goals set in year 1

Co-Director Elect (2)

• 2 year position
  
• Co-VP during the first year
• Assist Directors in supervision of LMSA-NE affairs
• Plan Fall House of Delegates
• Meet with all LMSA-NE chapters with the Chief Development Officers
• Attend National Board of Directors Meeting if Directors are unavailable
• Review and Award Fall & Spring Scholarships 
• Learn complete inner-workings of LMSA-NE
• Develop 2-year strategic goals

​Chief Development Officer (1)

• ​1 year position
• Attend National Membership Meetings as needed
• Meet with and serve as a contact person for new and current chapters
• Provide communication and appropriate directions between the Council and LMSA-NE members
• Keep LMSA-NE Listserv and Directory up to date

​Chief Financial Officer (1)

• ​2 year position
• Attend regional board meetings (monthly) and regional events
• Develop and manage annual regional budget 
• Process expense reimbursements
• Liaise with LMSA National CFO for Regional funds
• File taxes & forms to maintain non-profit status
• Serve as organization financial advisor and coordinate with bank advisor
• Develop and work towards long-term financial strategy to achieve financial sustainability
• Ensure long-term growth
• Assist scholarship chair with Conference fundraising
• Manage endowment fund*

Note: Although not a requirement, experience/knowledge in business administration/investments and basic knowledge of personal finance is strongly encouraged!

​Chief Information Officer (1)

• 1 year position
• Record attendance and minutes at all board meetings
• Manage and organize LMSA Google Drive
• Create and publish the monthly LMSA-NE Newsletter
  • Manage Chapter of the Month & Physician of the Month
• Assist PR Chair with advertisements:
  • Listserv emails
  • Social media post: Noticias de Northeast, Chapter of the Month/Physician of the Month posts.

​Scholarship Chair (1)

• 1 year position
• Expand fundraising efforts
• Attend National Fundraising Committee meetings
• Identify and apply to grants
• Maintain a grant database
• Lead Region Conference Fundraising efforts with Conference Co-Chairs
• Collaborate with sponsors/partners
• Publicize and review scholarships with Co-Directors Elects
• Work closely with CFO towards long-term financial strategy

​Public Relations Chair (1)

• 1 year position
• Manage all LMSA-NE media platforms (website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Linktree)
• Create flyers, promotional material and programs for LMSA-NE events
• Attend monthly Regional Board meetings

Policy Chair (1)

• 1 year Position
• Serve as the liaison between LMSA-NE and the LMSA-National Policy Committee.
• Create events to raise awareness about issues facing the Latinx community
• Create policy statements for LMSA-NE surrounding current events
• Help in the organization and execution of the LMSA National Policy Summit
• Attend all LMSA Policy meetings and oversee LMSA Resolution process at the regional level.

Mentorship Chair (1)

• 1 year position
• Provide academic and social support to pre-health students
• Create goals surrounding the recruitment of Latinx into the health field
• Maintain a record of LMSA+ Northeast chapters
• Manage recruitment into and establishment of LMSA+ Chapters
• Collaborate with National Mentorship Chair

Service Chair (1)

• 1 year position
• Identify service initiatives to be implemented at both regional and chapter levels
• Host regional service events
• Provide guidance to chapter service chairs
• Work with National Service Chair to manage Service Database

Conference Chair (2)

• Coordinate all conference logistics
  • Conference facilities
  • Conference events
  • Recruitment of conference speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors
  • Advertisement, networking events, etc
  • Organize and oversee conference planning sub-committees
  • and more!
