Summary
What is HOD?
The House of Delegates (HOD) is the overall governing body of the LMSA-NE organization. It has the ultimate authority and responsibility to govern the organization, such as voting on candidates for the executive council and on amendments to the constitution. HOD meets twice a year; once in the Fall and again in the Spring.

Fall 2023 House of Delegates Schedule
This year’s theme, Unidos empoderando la comunidad, aims to highlight the various ways we can build, empower and uplift our communities.
Agenda
Breakfast and Check-In 7:30 am - 8:30 am
We will have registration set up at the Vagelos Education Center (VEC). There will be coffee, tea, pandebono, buñuelo, and buñuelo con guayaba from Mike’s Bagels and Salento Colombian Coffee & Kitchen sponsored by New York-Presbyterian Hospital! Eat and mingle after checking-in with security and the front desk. Please, remember to grab your name tag!
Opening Remarks 8:30 am
LMSA-NE Co-Director Elects will start the day with a warm welcome. This will be followed by hearing from the Columbia University’s LMSA Chapter Leadership, the Dean of Inclusion, Diversity and Belonging, as well as the BALSO Faculty Advisor and VP&S Latino Association Co-President.
Morning Speakers 9:15 am
We will hear from our keynote speaker followed by an address from an LMSA founding member!
Lunch 11 am
Head to the lobby to pick up lunch from Malecon which was sponsored by Columbia University and Dr. Emilio Carrillo! We have pollo guisado, pernil, moro y gandules, maduros y ensalada! Mingle and eat anywhere throughout the VEC. Considering being a regional executive board member? Look for the current regional e-board table and eat lunch with them if you have any questions about what it is like to be a member of the board!
Cafecitos: Resident x Student Mixer 11:45 am
Head to the 10th floor of the VEC after lunch to meet and mingle with residents from New York Presbyterian! We will have (more) coffee and tea, as well as dessert!
Transition to Hammer Health Sciences Buildings

Workshops 12:45 pm - 1:45 pm
Please, attend the workshop you signed up for. Room assignments for each workshop will be in the conference program upon your arrival. We will transition to the Hammer Health Sciences Building for the remainder of the LMSA-NE House of Delegates. The address of this building is 701 W 168th Street NY, NY 10032. Please, ask a volunteer for help with navigation, if needed.
Regional Advisor Address 2 pm
We will hear from our LMSA Northeast Regional Advisors, Dr. Hernandez-Jones and Dr. Saldaña.
Scholarship Distribution 2:45 pm
Scholarship recipients will be announced and they will receive their awards.
Voting and Other Business 3:30 pm
We will vote on new LMSA-NE Bylaw proposals, as well as hear from two prospective chapters!
