Latino Medical Student Association Spring Scholarships for the 2024-2025 year.
(awarded at our NE Regional Conference in March 2025) All scholarships are open to Northeast LMSA members only.
Conference Travel Awards
Joseph Lopez Travel Scholarship
Deadline: February 7th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST
Award amount: $1000
This award is given in honor of Dr. Joseph Lopez, National/Regional Conference Chair from 2011-2012. It is awarded to an active NE chapter of LMSA that has demonstrated a commitment to our mission. The funds are to help pay expenses to attend our regional conference.
Spring Scholarships
Transition to Residency Scholarship
Deadline: February 7th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST
Award amount: $1000
This scholarship was established to support 4th year LMSA Northeast medical students in their transition into residency and the added costs of this amazing accomplishment.
VSLO Application Scholarship (2 available)
Deadline: February 7th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST
Award amount: $1000
This scholarship was established to defray the costs of away rotations for 3rd year medical students. Away rotations are “audition” rotations at other programs different from your own. You apply for these amazing experiences in AAMC’s VSLO (Visiting Student Learning Opportunities) portal. You may also hear them called “acting internship” (AI) or “sub-internship” (Sub-I). LMSA NE wants you to be able to afford these applications and participating in the AI when accepted!
LMSA+ Medical School Application Award
Deadline: February 7th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST
Award amount: $1000
This award was established to support premed LMSA+ members in the Northeast region by offering a scholarship to cover costs for the medical school application process. One of LMSA's missions is to provide mentorship and increasing the pipeline of diverse medical students.
Medical Licensing Support Award
Deadline: February 7th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST
Award amount: Full amount of one licensing exam
This award was established to financially support LMSA NE medical students paying for their medical licensing exams. We want you to highlight how LMSA has contributed to your goals as a future physician.

Hartford HealthCare LMSA-NE Scholarship
Deadline: February 7th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST
Award amount: $5,000
This program will now offer two (2) first or second-year medical students an externship at a Main Line Health Hospital for 4 weeks in the specialty of their choice.
Main Line Health x LMSA-NE Summer 2025 Externship
Deadline: February 17th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST
Award amount: $3,500
This scholarship was established to support LMSA NE medical students who demonstrate financial need.
Chapter of the Year Award
Dr. Helen Rodriguez Trias Chapter of the Year Award

Award amount: TBA
This award is given to the chapter that best exemplifies the ideals of LMSA-NE, namely to recruit Latinos into higher education, educate about Latino health issues, advocate for increased Latino representation in health related areas, and promote awareness about social, political and economic issues as they relate to Latino health, through its activities throughout the year.

Research Presenter Awards
Pre-Medical Student Award for Excellence in Research
Award amount: awarded to winners of research symposium judging
The purpose of this award is to foster excellence in the research performed by our members and create an environment where students can discuss their work, defend their data, and establish relationships in the Latino/a/x scientific community. This award is specifically for pre-medical students presenting at our Regional Conference.

Dr. Emilio Carrillo Award for Excellence in Research
